Crossed Review

Crossed (Matched, #2)Crossed
Ally Condie
Dutton
November 1st

Summary:

In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

Review:

I really enjoyed Matched, it was full of action, had tons of romance and was an over all good read. I couldn't wait for Crossed, mainly to see what would happen to my favourite character, Xander. Sadly he was barely even in the book, which mad me sad.

I think that the best thing about this book, and the reason I gace the rating I gave to it is the writing. Ally Condie has an excellent way with words, and it's almost poetic like Maggie Stiefvaters books. It's so descriptive and you can connect with the characters and almost feel th emotions they have with eachother. Overall I like all the characters, but I really think that Xander is the better choice than Ky. Ky's just to sensitive, and loves poems to much for me to enjoy him as the main interest.. This book was really interesting becuase you get to see what like is like outside of the Society and what it's like in the Outer Provinces and the Carvings. When reader see the secret that Xander hasn't told Cassia, I hope they will chage to team Ky, it mad me love him more! It's told from both Cassia's and Ky's perspective which I think I enjoyed more than just Cassia.

All though the book was good, I found myself getting bored! Most of the book is spent looking fo Ky. The setting never changed, and there weren't many action, exciting parts. In the whole book I would say there wasn't a climax at all, and if there is one it's the very end. There' no major cliffhanger though, so don't worry. The book needed two characters to tell the story or it would have been boring. I liked Matched better based on the story line, but Crossed for writing and characrter development. I hope th next and last one pick up and have tons of action for the final installment.

  1. I'm really looking forward to reading this next week, but I'm a tad worried that the lack of action and quick-moving storyline will deter my reading a bit. I'm happy to know that the character development is solid, as I was hoping to get to know Ky better, but I was also hoping for a good dash of excitement and action. We'll see, I suppose! Great review. :)

  4. Xander was barely in the book!!! Ah!

It sounds like a middle novel read. You know what mean? Where it's just a stepping stone to book three. I kinda hate when middle novels are like that and you have to wait for book 3 for things to really get good and to finish.

I really loved Matched so I'm not sure if I want to read this one or not. :/
