Summary:
How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?
Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the 'life' they've been assigned. What they don't realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.
When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz's establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel's path and a warrior's plans.
From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that's ripping them apart.

Review:
Sadly, I think this will be a short review since I don't have too much to say about Until Next Time. It wasn't a horrible read, but it also wasn't a great one that I loved. I found Until Next Time to be really hard to get into when I started and the beginning was very confusing. The concept behind the story was very intriguing though and it the main reason in why I did not give up on this book. I felt that both Emily and Matt seemed a bit young based on their actions. In the beginning of the book I thought that it started when they were in their early tween, but no they are definitely teenagers.
The story did get a bit more interesting once I got past the beginning but it just did not capture mu attention like a like a book to do. The writing is amazing, Amy's writing is beautiful to say the least. I enjoyed her writing when it was in first person point of view, like in the prologue, if this was carried though throughout the book I probaly would have ended up really enjoying Until Next Time. The romance in this book is really sweet and I enjoyed both guys that Emily/Liz is involved with, the love triangle worked well in this situation. I did feel that is moved too fast for any feeling to develop, espeicially when Emily/Liz meets Jason. The events of the moved too fast in my opinion as well, the book could have been extended and keep things at a good pace.
Although I had a few issues with this book, it wasn't all bad. I am mildly interested in this series and I would definitely consider reading the second if I had the chance to. Up until me I have seen nothing but great reviews for this book, so please check out other review before you make your final vedict on Until Next Time. Fans of Angel books will find this book of interest, it is different then most and could be considered historical since a large portion of the book takes place in the past.
Sorry you didn't like this much Hayley! I'm reading it soon for the blog tour and not sure what to expect. I guess we'll see. :)
ReplyDeleteHayley, thank you for taking the time to read and review Amy's book. We appreciate your recommendation to those who are fans of angel stories.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've heard mixed things about this one. Most people don't have a very strong opinion on it one way or the other. I love beautiful writing, but if the characters can't live up to it, it doesn't do much for me. Great review!
