Touch of Frost Review

Touch of Frost (Mythos Academy, #1)Touch of Frost
Jennifer Estep

Summary:

My name is Gwen Frost, and I go to Mythos Academy — a school of myths, magic and warrior whiz kids, where even the lowliest geek knows how to chop off somebody's head with a sword and Logan Quinn, the hottest Spartan guy in school, also happens to be the deadliest.
But lately, things have been weird, even for Mythos. First, mean girl Jasmine Ashton was murdered in the Library of Antiquities. Then, someone stole the Bowl of Tears, a magical artifact that can be used to bring about the second Chaos War. You know, death, destruction and lots of other bad, bad things. Freaky stuff like this goes on all the time at Mythos, but I'm determined to find out who killed Jasmine and why—especially since I should have been the one who died. . .

Review:

Going into Touch of Frost I was most excited about the mythology, I am a huge mythology nerd. I expected Greek Mythology because that the most popular seen in YA books theses days. To my delight Touch of  Frost has much more, theres Spartans, Romans, Gspy's, Celts and much much more. In short I loved this book so much it's a new one on my favourite list, the mythology wasn't the only thing that was amazing though in this book.

Gwen Frost, the one an only gyspy at Myhos Academy, the one that doesn't really belong with all the other warrios, or so she seems.. Gwen is amazing charater she's funny, strong, smart, has magic powers, and is totally into comic books. Really she's my new book BFF. I have also found a new book boyfriend, Logan Quinn, wow he is just wow. You would think that having all these idea of different historical background would be too jumbled but Jennifer Estep made it work I was so drawn into the story and the background story of the characters and why they are studying to become warriors that I just couldn't stop reading.

Touch of Frost is also jammed packed with mystery that surrounds Jasmine's death and who did it, and has tons of battle/action seens that I'm sure will amaze all readers not jus myself. This book doesn't have too much romance, yet! A lot of books are driven by romance or a love triangle, but Touch of Frost was really refreshing in this department. it shows that a book can be just as good if not better without having romance be a major portion of the plot.

Seriously though I would tell (force) everyone to read this book. With an interesting take on mythology set into a boarding school, an awesome unusual main charcter who some may consider a geek, andso many twists and turns this is definitely a book that is worth checking out. After reading this I just had to start Kiss of Frost ASAP.

  2. Totally agree with your review! I love the mixed mythology in these books. And I love Gwen as a character--she's the kind of girl I would have been friends with in high school. Great review!
