Obsidian Review

Obsidian (Lux, #1)

Obsidian
Jennifer L. Armentrout
Entangled Publishing
December 6th 2011

Summary:

Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…. until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don’t kill him first, that is

Review:

For those of you who have read Jennifer's other YA book, Halfblood, and had problems with it's unoriginality like my self with find that Obsidian will be more to your liking. Not having many alien YA books out there at the moment I was really excited to read Obsidian because it is something I find of interest, and hearing that this book has a hotter than hot male character just made me read it more. Obsidian did not dissapoint me, it was an original plot line, an attractive and some what rude male, enough action to keep reader entertained until the end.

I found that I could really connect with the main character, Katy, because she is a book blogger like myself and many others who have read and reviewed this book before me. I found this to be a plus and a negative. A plus because a large amount of book bloggers have/are reading this book, and have a character the shares the same interests get them more involved with the story. A negative because it may confuse reader who are not familiar with the blogging world and have no clue of the meme's bloggers participate. It just seemed like a book that was geared towards book bloggers.

When I first started reading Obsidian I found Daemon to be a mayjor jerk, I was wondering why all these girls liked him. As the book went on and he warmed up to Katy he was still a jerk but.. he was a lovable jerk and I found myself lusting of the hottness that is Daemon. Is it just me or are all the dark, mysterious, hot guys named Daemon spelled in a various of ways? Like in Halfbloof Jennifer Armentrout showed that she is a remarkable writer, her writing is very easy and enjoyable to read. Her take on aliens is also unique and different then those seen is the few other aliens books or seen i. n movies. Obsidian grabbed me from the beginning and and did not let go until the very end, and let me just say this I CANNOT wait until Onyx. I hope to see the romance pick up now that Daemon and Katy have been through the events of Obsidian. I can see a really steamy romance brewing that will appeal to my liking.
I reccommend this book to fans of  I am Number four, and sci-fi genre. Stop looking for your next sci-fi or alien book (or both) because you have found one that is worth the read. Obsidian is a fast pace, some what funny, and has amaxing characters that I will promise that you will fall in love with. Sorry in advance to when you get to the end and there nothing left for you to read until Onyx comes out in May

  1. Good point about it being geared towards bloggers.. I forget that those who aren't book bloggers wouldn't know what WoW and IMMs are!
