But now that she's in heaven, Brie is about to discover that love is way more complicated than she ever imagined. Back in Half Moon Bay, her family has begun to unravel. Her best friend knows a secret about Jacob, the boy she loved and lost - and the truth behind his shattering betrayal. And then there's Patrick, Brie's mysterious new guide and resident Lost Soul who's been D&G (dead and gone) much longer than she? and who just might hold the key to her forever after. With Patrick's help, Brie will have to pass through the five stages of grief before she's ready to move on? but how do you begin again, when your heart is still in pieces?

Review:

I had a riot reading The Catastrophic History of You an Me it was a super fun read. I don't think I have ever read a book that has made me laugh out loud so many time. Literally there was a laugh on every page, sometime one than one. I have no doubt that the author Jess Rothenburg is a funny person, it's very well expressed through her writing. This book was a breath of fresh air to read. It had a brilliant idea, come on where have you heard of someone dying because their heart literally split in two when getting dumped? On top of that like I said before it is very funny, super cute, but also heartbreaking at the same time.

The main character Brie really made the book all the more enjoyable for me to read, she is very corky which is a quality that I love in a character. I loved hearing her story as she goes through the five stages of grief. I also loved that she has a fascination with the 80's! The chapters name are all songs names or a part of a song and they all relate to the book in some way, it's like having an already made soundtrack. Patrick the lost soul that Brie meets after she dies is just like her in a lot of ways but he is a real tease, in other words he's very lovable. As the story progresses a lot of things are revealed about these two, but this is a no spoiler review so you will have to read the book to find out about that.

I really wish this book wasn't a stand alone I really fell in love with it while reading! It just may be a favourite read of 2012, so far it is! I would say that The Catastrophic History of You and Me is a large portion contemorary but also a little bit paranormal espeicially near the end a pit more paranormal is thrown in. While the book is funny and an overall fun read it is also very sad, expect some tears to be shed. Not just Brie has a sad story her ex boyfriend, family, and bestfriend Sadie do too. I would definitely reccommend this book to anyone it is a totally amazing book start to finish.
